THC in Alabama

Alabama's House Bill 445 became effective July 1, 2024, with full enforcement beginning January 1, 2026, creating strict regulations for hemp-derived THC products. The law authorizes the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board to regulate all hemp products including delta-8, delta-9, and delta-10 through mandatory licensing of manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. Key restrictions include: complete ban on smokable hemp products (cigarettes, cigars, vapes, flowers, buds), prohibition of synthetic cannabinoids, edibles/beverages limited to 10mg THC per serving, 21+ age restrictions, child-resistant packaging requirements, mandatory certificates of analysis, and products must remain in original sealed containers. Licensing fees and testing requirements apply to all levels of the supply chain. The law allows grocery store sales under certain conditions but prohibits advertising visible from public spaces.
